Religion and a Hot Mic

This will get me unfriended, and that’s ok.

  • Religion is dangerous, no doubt.
  • Religion itself is a thief to spirit born freedom.
  • Religion is a yoke and constricts the anointing.

But, to me, the most dangerous thing about religion are those people who come OUT of it …. and then are given a mic to influence people on social media.

Peter even warns us about such people ….

“For, speaking loud boasts of folly, they entice by sensual passions of the flesh those who are barely escaping from those who live in error. They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.” 2 Peter 2:18-19

As we OURSELVES escape religion, we must NOT let others who have also escaped the system ... to seed our hearts with their own corruption.

Seeking truth AND seeking to prove lies seem like similar strategies, but are two very different things.

If someone has been burned by religion and the intent of the heart is to find every possible lie in the Bible or to weed out all their own PERCEIVED inconsistencies ... that person will end up throwing the bible out all together. In fact, most times they end up throwing God out with it.

But, if the intent of the heart is "God show me what is true. Show me where in your message man has gone astray. Show me what is true so I can live it. Show me what man has mangled so I can be a pure messenger, and pull others into the light."

That's completely different.

One heart seeks freedom from the responsibilities of faith.

One heart seeks freedom from those things that hinder the growth of our responsibilities of faith.

Honestly, in the last 2 years I have de friended about 1200 people:

  1. Universalists
  2. Inclusionists
  3. Preterists
  4. Anti-Bibleists

Why?

Because the Israelites couldn't receive their promise because they were NOT united with those who LISTENED. The doubts of others became doubts of their own. Hebrews 4:2

Peter says it best ...

"You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability." 2 Peter 3:17

Don't let the unstable make you unstable, lest you miss what has been promised to you in Christ.
