The More

Ok, I was going to keep my mouth shut - but that’s apparently not my strong point.

I’ve seen multiple comments about Asbury College mocking hunger for more of God. Comments such as “we have all that we are going to get” or “I can’t get any closer to God than I already am because He sits inside me.”

Yes. You have all you are going to get within you, yet you do not have all of His spirit upon you. We all have the same fusion or union within, we do not all have the same spirit or measure of power upon.

“For he (Jesus) whom God has sent utters the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure.” John 3:34

Without measure, is literally in the Greek, without measure.

Remember. The apostles had the upon before the cross (Luke 9:1) and yet received more at Pentecost. In fact, Peter and John were filled again a third time in Acts 4:31.

Paul and his disciples were filled a second time in Acts 13:52.

Truth is that we are constantly being filled and re strengthened as Paul commands, “be filled with the Spirit” (Eph 5:18). Be filled or plēroō in the Greek - is a constant infilling from The Lord Himself. You are a sail on a sail boat and not a water bottle.

I’d also argue, that there are many gifts and types of gifts sitting within our bellies that haven’t even been activated yet. Prophetic, types of healing, discernment, types of tongues, wisdom, teaching, giving, knowledge, faith, and even gifts we haven’t ever seen before … all waiting to be opened from the place of hunger for God.

Paul never settled. Paul hungered for more of God (Phil 3:10-16). So much so, that Paul entered heaven to hear and see things that cannot ever be told.

“I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows. And I know that this man was caught up into paradise—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows— and he heard things that cannot be told, which man may not utter.” 2 Cor 12:2-4

Does God trust you enough to show you the secret things of heaven? Yet. This comes from a passionate intimacy with God, and sincere appreciation for how broad He is.

A friend of mine once said, “we spend our whole lives studying and admiring one grain of sand, when God is really the entire beach.”

There’s always more. He just wants us to want it.
