"God Is Pleased" Theology

Yes. God always loves us. Yes. God loves us no matter what. Correct. God isn't mad at us. Of course God will not place His wrath on sons and daughters.

But to say God is *ALWAYS* pleased with us ... is one of the biggest FB head scratchers of all time for me.

I steal. God is pleased?
I lie. God is pleased?
I cheat on my wife. God is pleased?
I twist the scriptures. God is pleased?
I walk away from God. God is pleased?
I plagiarize someone's content. God is pleased?
I refuse to co-labor w God. God is pleased?
I fail to love my neighbor. God is pleased?

God disciplines those He loves (HEB 12:6) ... it isn't possible to be pleased with a harmful behavior and correct said behavior at the same time!

Yes, by the spirit The Father sees you just like He sees Jesus (2 Cor 3:18). But our soul must transform or mature into the nature of Christ (Romans 8:29).

Folks, this is where we misunderstand. There are two types of righteousness:

Imputed
Your spirit has BEEN justified (Eph 2:8-9).

Imparted
Your soul is BEING sanctified (1 Timothy 6:11-12; 2 Cor 3:17-18).

We must grow and become. For that to happen we must hear and heed loving correction.

Yes. God is always pleased with Christ in us. God always loves us no matter. God always has our best interests at heart. God is always for us and not against us.

But, "God is always pleased" theology is the biggest road block to self introspection and growth.

Next time you discipline your kids, check if you are pleased with what you are correcting.
