So who are the disciples of Christ?
Those who abide in the word. Not those who read or memorize the word, rather those who remain (like solid bone) in the word and live as if they actually believe what they’ve read.
The truth can only set you free, if you believe it’s truth.
And BTW - if only the Jews of THAT time were disciples (which I’ve been told), then the truth CAN’T even set you free.
Why?
Because it would only be for the Jews.
So Jesus said to the Jews who had 👉 believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
