Baptized with The Holy Spirit and Fire:

Some will have their brains fried. And. Some others won’t care. But. If you are seeking a baptism (immersion) in the Holy Spirit AND fire, you are really asking Jesus for the Holy Spirit AND the eternal fire of judgment (Sheol, Lake of Fire).

I will make this simple. There are four accounts (grouped in pairs) of what John the Baptist said.

Holy Spirit AND Fire

1. Matthew 3:1-12

2. Luke 3:1-21

————————

Holy Spirit ONLY

3. Mark 1:1-8

4. John 1:19-34

In Matthew 3:1-12 and Luke 3:1-21, where John the Baptist says YOU will be baptized with the “The Holy Spirit AND fire” - the text makes clear the audience here is a mixture of Pharisees, Sadducees, and believers.

In Mark 1:1-8 and John 1:19-34, where John the Baptist says YOU will be baptized with “The Holy Spirit” - the text makes clear this is spoken ONLY to an audience of believers or followers.

In the Matthew account, John sternly warns the mixed crowd to flee the wrath to come, and John continues on to say, “Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.” Matthew 3:10

That kind of fire doesn’t sound good to me.

John goes on to say to the mixed crowd, “His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.” Matthew 3:12

That kind of fire doesn’t sound good to me either.

When John says in Matthew and Luke YOU will be baptized in the Holy Spirit and Fire, he is talking to a mixed group. This is an audience mixed with an angry mob and those desiring the kingdom. YOU (each person in the group) will EITHER be baptized in the Holy Spirit or baptized (immersed) into the fire of eternal damnation.

Now. I’m not saying we don’t have experiences with God as fire, heat, or electricity …. for GOD IS A CONSUMING FIRE. YES, He desires to consume us. The Lord desires to consume every ounce of our being. Hebrews 12:28-29

And. I’m not saying tongues aren’t AS fire (acts 2:3).

But. I am saying we should NOT seek scripturally that which is talking about damnation for the unbeliever.

In fact. What we SHOULD be seeking is a baptism in the Holy Spirit AND POWER (acts 1:8; acts 10:38). 🤪😂😁
