Faith and Trust

Faith and trust are inverted, but do work together.

FAITH is believing without having seen any evidence to support the belief. Hebrews 11:1

TRUST is believing despite having seen NEGATIVE evidence that refutes the stuff we are faithing for. Proverbs 3:5-6

Faith is freely given, it's a gift. Yet. Trust is both a choice and a response flowing out of our faith.

If God says to you, “Go to Uncle Fred’s house and have him drive you to 100 miles to the Florida State line. You will find what I have for you there.” Faith has been activated for that which you haven’t yet seen.

You get to Fred’s house and you see that Fred has a patch over his right eye, has 3 DUI’s, he was released from jail last night, the car is all banged up, his breath wreaks of alcohol, and the car’s brakes aren’t working that great.

You now have MUCH evidence to REFUTE faith for getting in the car with Fred.

Yet (after the obligatory double checking with God) you employ TRUST with OBEDIENCE … and still get in the car.

As you drive with Fred, with each scary moment gone bye, you see God’s loving goodness and you deeply come to realize that God has you at every corner. In what seems to be chaos, our faith grows. Intimacy grows. Love for FRED grows. Character grows.

And FRED got to experience Jesus (yes, YOU) along the way.

In tough circumstances, trust is literally the suspension of our own understanding in order to gain the shalom peace of His perfect understanding. Yes. When you were marked with His seal upon your heart, you literally gave up the right to understand! Proverbs 3:5-6

God joyfully gives us the strength to operate in faith and trust. And, it's my opinion that many promises go seemingly as failed .... because we don’t grasp and act upon this principle.

REST (BELIEF) = FAITH + TRUST
