My Brother

At the airport today I was wearing my NY Yankees jersey and some guy walked past me wearing a Yankees hat.

Yes. We did the obligatory head nod, and recognized the awesomeness of what is Yankees baseball.

He then tells me that his brother is Aaron Hicks - the Yankees center fielder. Which, I thought was pretty darn cool.

Until he walked away and God spoke to my spirit.

This guy leaving the Yankees spring training complex was bragging and soaking all this personal energy into his brother’s name. Yes. Leaning on what his brother has accomplished. The dude probably wasn’t even a Yankees fan until his brother struck it big there.

How come we as believers don’t do the same thing?

Our brother is the king of the universe and holds time in His hands.

Yes. We should be name dropping Jesus, and healing others in that same power just to show off who we know.

My response to him should of been, “That’s cool, but my brother is Jesus the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Let me pray for you and show you.”

For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers,
