If someone you knew held a gun to your head and demanded you make payment in FULL for the amount you owe them, and you didn't have the massive amount they were demanding ... what do you do?
Worse. What if the LAW of the land actually SUPPORTED the person holding the gun to your head?
Well ...
You'd have 2 choices:
- Die. Or.
- Convince them you will pay them later.
THAT was the legal demand of The Law. The Law demanded a full payment for a huge debt that we could not pay, and without payment rendered … The Law rightfully demanded our death.
JESUS, was our full payment. For Old Testament peeps, this was a payment to be made later. Yet. With the payment for ALL sin for ALL time rendered at the cross, death can no longer demand future payments.
With the legal debt paid, and sin forever put away … death is powerless over a believer. Death has lost its sting, and no longer looms over any missing payments!
1 Corinthians 15:56
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
Colossians 2:15
He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
