Working 2 Covenants

Last night I was joking with Nancy that I’m working 2 covenants because I’m of Jewish descent. Well, I was out walking today and I heard God say “so, what does that actually mean?”

And. Like always. I began thinking about it.

Folks. My Jewish roots make me NO different than a Gentile. We ALL get to fully work 2 covenants!!!

1) The Abrahamic covenant of leaving behind what’s seemingly ours in order to gain what’s rightfully His through faith; being a blessing to all the families in the earth; making His name great; and being part of the multitudes of Nations coming to salvation.

2) And the new covenant of eternal dominion and the unbreakable promise of being co heir to a kingdom.

Both ours. Both in play. Both fully operational.

Why? How is that possible for Jew and Gentile?

Paul spells out in Romans 11 and Galatians 3 that the Jews and Gentiles must BELIEVE TO BE GRAFTED INTO THE TREE.

Yes. Before I believed, I wasn’t part of the original tree. I too was grafted back in when I first believed. No different than a Gentile.

“Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham.” Galatians 3:7

As sons of God and descendants of Abraham, you and I both are to be blessed by God just like Abraham and heirs to the covenant he was given:

“So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.” Galatians 3:9

Yes. Yes. Yes.

You and I work 2 covenants. Both of them grounded in the building of a kingdom. You and I both are called to everything that was first promised to Abraham … along WITH the salvation power of Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” Genesis 12:1-3
